Volunteerism & Charitable Giving

Throughout the years, Ascend One sponsors a variety of community service activities and fundraisers. All team members are encouraged, supported and recognized for individual volunteerism and community participation.
 
  • Literacy Week to benefit Baltimore Reads – Ascend One hosted a week long fundraiser that included a company-sponsored book fair, a book signing by Maryland Author Michelle Green and benefiting Baltimore Reads and a book and poetry reading of works by Ascend One's own team members.
  • Business Serving America (BSA) – Created in response to President Bush's call to service, BSA is a peer-to-peer, non-partisan business campaign to encourage more Americans to serve in their communities. Amerix works with other companies and nonprofit organizations in order to improve existing service and volunteerism programs, create new programs and maximize the contributions of these programs to their communities.
  • Ascend One Community Service Fair – The company hosts an annual community service fair featuring local community organizations including The Arc of Howard County, Family and Children Services, Domestic Violence Center, National Family Resiliency Center and Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource and Image Center. Ascend One's community service fair raises awareness among team members of our community's needs. It also emphasizes the importance of volunteerism and encourages team members to contribute to the community through service.
  • Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center – Ascend One hosts an annual summer picnic with food and entertainment for the residents of the Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center's homeless shelter. The company also provides food Grassroots Cold Weather Shelter Program.
  • Hurricane Katrina Relief – Ascend One team members contributed nearly $3,500 to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
  • Jr. Achievement of Central Maryland – Team members volunteered as classroom consultants for Jr. Achievement. This five week program brought our volunteers directly to the classroom to teach children about the United States' economic system.
  • March of Dimes WalkAmerica – Ascend One has sponsored a corporate team to participate in the March of Dimes' annual fundraiser WalkAmerica to raise awareness and prevent premature birth.
  • Operation USO Care Package – Ascend One team members drafted letters and collected funds for care packages sent to U.S. military troops overseas.
  • Summer of Service – Team members select one of four different community service activities including hosting an activity at a retirement home, providing lawn care for the elderly, and assisting at a children's day camp. Team members are given time off to work on the selected project.
  • Prepare for Success – Ascend One team members collect donations, book bags and school supplies for disadvantaged students in the local Howard County School System.
  • Thanksgiving Food Basket Build – Ascend One adopts 10 families in the Howard County community and collects food to provide for the chosen families' Thanksgiving Day meal.
  • Dragon Boat Races – Ascend One has fielded a team to compete with other corporations in the Dragon Boat Races fundraiser for Catholic Charities of Baltimore. Other Ascend One team members participate in the hat, team chant and tent contests.
  • Spirit of Giving – Spirit of Giving is an Ascend One tradition that benefits and supports our very own team members and their families by providing gifts for their children during the holiday season.
  • Success In Style Clothing Drive – Ascend One team members cleaned out their closets to find career wear to donate Success in Style (SIS), which is a non-profit organization that supplies business attire to disadvantaged women.
